Wooden Doors and Engravings in Dubai's Historic Buildings

Dubai Culture has announced that it will host Saudi researcher Dr. Saeed Abdullah Al Wayel as part of the Library Talks initiative under the School of Life project. Dr. Al Wayel, in collaboration with visual artist Hasanin Mohammed Al Ramel, will lead a workshop titled ‘Wooden Doors and Engravings in Dubai's Historic Buildings’ from 28 – 30 January 2025 at Al Safa Art and Design Library. The workshop will allow architecture and interior design students and enthusiasts to explore the aesthetic and architectural elements of Dubai's historic buildings, focusing on traditional doors, their types, features, and decorative engravings.
Additionally, on 31 January 2025, Dr. Al Wayel will deliver a talk titled ‘Historic Doors of Dubai and Their Engravings’ at the Etihad Museum Auditorium. This session will highlight the art of heritage architecture and the craft of traditional woodworking, which have played a key role in the traditional architecture of Dubai and the GCC. The event will conclude with a book signing for ‘Historic Doors of Dubai and Their Engravings’.
